Today we are studying the second name by which God reveals
Himself, Yahweh (YHWH).
The English translation is Jehovah, found in Genesis 2:7-8 where we learn that God is our caring, intimate creator, Yahweh Elohim. In the
King James Version this is translated as Lord God.
Jews revere this name to such extent you will never hear one
speak it whether he is orthodox or not. This is the name by which God revealed Himself to
Moses. It is translated as "I Am that I Am."
In Judaism, the High Priest was allowed to speak this name only once a year inside the Holy of Holy's on the Day of Atonement. I remember
reading where this name sounds like our breath. So the first and last sound we make
on this earth is Yahweh, the name of our Creator God..
In Genesis 2 we see where our all powerful and caring God,
who created the heavens and earth, kneels down and forms man with His hands
from the dust of the earth, and breathes into him spirit-life.
Man is the only
creature God created with His loving hands. We are uniquely hand-made in His
image and likeness to reflect and reveal Him. God breathed His life into man (your
and me) and man (we) became a spirit-man (spiritual sons and daughters of the
living God). We carry His very breath inside us and breath His name at every breath we take.
However; before we were made, God made Eden .
Hebrew for Eden, (Heden) means a place of voluptuous living. God did not make
man to live in poverty, create a religion or to be religious people. He made man for fellowship and to
show us His blessings and goodness.
For every need we face there is a name by
which God reveals Himself as the answer. Today we meet Yahweh: I AM that I AM. NOT: I was or
Who I will be. (Hebrews 13:8) “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
Then in Malachi 3:6 God says, “I the Lord change not…”
So as we approach Communion today, let us meditate on our
intimate, caring redeemer.
Jesus, through the cross, restored us back into the
intimate spiritual relationship for which we were created, but lost through Adam's sin.
What are your needs, your daily bread, for this day? Bring your needs to Yahweh. "Cast your cares upon
Him for He cares for you." (1 Peter 5:7) Amen!
Blessings on your day!
Karen
