“In the name of Jesus, Amen!” has become so
common we use it like a cliché, and tack it on just because we have been taught
to do so. However; there is great power
in both the name of Jesus and the Amen.
When we pray in the name
of Jesus, we are presenting our request to our heavenly Father who gives all
good things based on the uncompromising word and the name of Jesus for which everything and
everyone must bow. His name stands in the presence of Almighty God in our
place.
According to John 14:13 (NIV) “Whatever you ask in My name (the Name of
Jesus), I will do it so the shining-greatness (the glory) of the Father may be seen
in the Son.”
Luke 12:32 “Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s
good pleasure to give you the Kingdom.”
It is living in the Kingdom of God, allowing God to rule our lives that
The power of the name of
Jesus and faith in His name guarantees God will answer our prayer according to
His purpose. It is His good pleasure. He enjoys answering our prayers.
Amen means “So be it,
truly.” It is also rendered "truly, truly or verily, verily."
When we say Amen we are
coming into agreement with God’s word and the power of the name of Jesus. This
is why we can, “(in) all things, whatsoever you shall ask in prayer, believe, and
you shall receive.” (Matthew 21:22)
When we base our prayers on the word of God we can and should expect to see our prayers answered!
You might say, “I have
prayed and believed, but God did not answer.”
I have learned that God’s
answers are not in my timing, and often not the way I expected.
Remember, Jesus was the
long awaited Messiah, but the Jews did not recognize Him because they were
looking for another King David to lead them out from under Roman rule rather than our eternal Savior.
Watch for your answer and do not limit God in the way you expect him to answer. Then look further into the scriptures to
see how to wait.
Proverbs 3: 5-6 (NLV)
gives us the answer. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not
trust in your own understanding. Agree (Amen) with Him in all your ways,
and He will make your paths straight.”
“Wait on the Lord. Be of
good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!” (Psalm
27:14)
Trusting Him in the wait is having faith in Jesus’ name, the word of God and His promise to fulfill His word..
In the mean time I must fill
my mind with the word to see what God is saying about my situation. Then I have to stand on it
and not waver. This is not an easy task. I find that I need to build up my faith. The longer the wait the more I need to build it up.
“Then faith comes by hearing
(the word). And hearing (comes) by the word (Rhema, understanding or
revelation) of God (and His word) .” (Romans 10:17)
Seek His perspective. Allow the Holy Spirit to impart understanding. Meditate and listen. Be still before Him.
So, when we say Amen!, we
are coming into agreement by declaration of the word and affirmation of our
belief in the word as well as The Name of Jesus.
Celebrate the fact that Jesus has given us His name so that we can come boldly before our heavenly Father and make our request known, knowing He will answer us according to His word. Amen!
